My name is Paul Robinson, that's me on the left there.
I was born on the 26th March 1978 to my mum Susan and dad Carl. My dad is now married to Elaine and lives in South Normanton while my mum is now married to Dave who live with me in Edwinstowe.
I have one brother called Steffan who lives in Newark with his wife Amanda and their three children, James, Scarlett and Neo.
Neo is Steffan's only biological child at the time of writing this.
I grew up in a beautiful village called Edwinstowe, situated in the heart of Sherwood Forest.
I started school at King Edwin Primary where I met my best friend Peter. At the age of eleven I joined the Rufford Comprehensive school (later renamed to simply the Rufford school) and studied for my GCSE and A-levels over the next 7 years.
After passing my GCSEs and failing miserably at my A-levels, I decided I'd like to go to University to study computing. The course I chose was a HND in computer studies at Nottingham Trent University. I didn't go to the university to study though as they did a franchise course at West Notts College which is much closer to home, so I did the course there instead.
Over the years I've had a few jobs, my first paid jobs included a paper round, carpark attendent and babysitter. I enjoyed the babysitting much more than the other jobs.
My first proper job after leaving college was as an IT technician at a firm called Leslie Reeson Assessors. I was supposed to be looking after the computer equipment but ended up simply entering data into a database about repairs needed on cars after accidents.
I left Leslie Reeson Assessors after about three months to become an IT technician at West Notts College, mainly as it looked a more exciting job. I didn't get the full technician job but they liked me enough to employ me as a modern apprentice.
I stayed at West Notts College for about two years until another IT technician job came up, this time at my old secondary school.
I applied for the job at the Rufford school and was really loving it there. Then news came of plans to close the school so everyone had to start looking for other jobs. Luckily for me, one of my old friends phoned me to see if I could help his uncle with a computer problem. I met his uncle, fixed the broken PC and recieved a proposition I wasn't expecting!
My friend's uncle worked for a company called Manpower, they dealt with providing a workforce for larger companies, one of which was IBM. I had an interview with him and one of the managers from IBM and was offered a job as a Customer Retail Engineer.
I handed in my months notice at the Rufford school and thought that was that. Until the day after I left Rufford, my friend's uncle came to see me and told me that the job was no longer available!! I was officially unemployed for a whole month before I got another call saying there was a job open again and I could start immediatly.
I really enjoyed my time working at IBM, I had a company van, company mobile phone and no bills to pay for either of them. I also got to see a lot of the country due to the area I worked in. Any tills breaking from Chesterfield up to Scarborough in stores such as HMV, Boots, Pizzahut, Asda, Comet, Wilkinsons, I was one of a team who would turn up to fix it.
This went on for just over three years, until I was called into the office and told that my services were no longer needed as there weren't as many calls coming in anymore!
Three months went by without me finding another job that would take me, all the schools went with ex-pupils for some strange reason, then I saw an advert for PC Service Call, IT technicians wanted. I applied, was asked three questions over the phone and was working there two days later!
Little did I know that it was a call center though.
After only three months I left, mainly because I hated the job but also because I'd seen one of my team mates literally break down and smash his PC to bits while on the phone to a customer!!
Thankfully I'd seen another job opening at West Notts college for an Audio Visual Technician. I've now been working here at West Notts college for the past two years and I'm loving it.
Things I enjoy doing in my spare time include the usual stuff such as reading, watching TV, sleeping etc. but I also love going out on my bikes, I have a mountain bike that I go downhill, cross country and street riding on, as well as jumping and learning trials. Then there is my mini moto bike which isn't road legal but my friend Jamie has a track in his field that we race around.
I enjoy playing games on my PC and creating cool (I think they are anyway) pictures and videos.
Oh yeah, I also spend a lot of time with my nephews James and Neo and my niece Scarlett.
